Condemns repeated detention of Asiya Andrabi
SRINAGAR: Expressing serious concern over the plight of hundreds of prisoners including youth, Hurriyat leaders and activists, languishing in various jails in and outside J&K, Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday sought immediate attention of global rights bodies towards the continuous lodgment of these inmates, which he said poses a threat to their lives.
Stating that most of them have been framed under fabricated cases, Mirwaiz said that the government was playing with their lives by confining them to four walls of prison
In a statement issued here, Mirwaiz said that all the prisoners languishing in various prisons in the State and outside should be released without any further delay on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.
He said that most of them were facing ill treatment as many ailing inmates are denied proper medical facilities. Mirwaiz also termed the inordinate delay in producing the inmates in various courts by authorizes as deliberate and unfortunate.
He strongly condemned the “violation of court orders” with regard to release of senior resistance leader Asiya Andrabi and her aide, Fehmeeda Sofa.
He said that Asiya was already suffering from multiple ailments and confining her to prison despite court orders, amounts to playing with her life.
Mirwaiz also condemned the continuous detention of APHC leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza adding that Waza is unwell and is under treatment for various ailment Mirwaiz demanded his immediate release as well.
