Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (Mirwaiz) constituent, Muslim Conference, has issued a notice to Manzoor-ul-Haq Bhat, its representative in Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK), after the latter questioned those who participated in the three-day Dubai conference on the issue of Kashmir.
Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, who heads the Muslim Conference and is an executive member of the Hurriyat (M), confirmed to Kashmir Reader that he has issued a notice to Manzoor-ul-Haq Bhat.
Manzoor-ul-Haq had in an interview to a Pakistan newspaper said that the conference held in Dubai from July 31 to August 2 was an “Indian conspiracy”. Haq is the MC’s representative in PaK.
“No indiscipline can be tolerated,” Prof Bhat told this newspaper.
The conference in Dubai was attended by people from both sides of divided Kashmir. It had recommended that “cessation of hostilities be ensured on all sides”. The statement of the conference, hosted by London-based Conciliation Resources, came under severe criticism from United Jihad Council chief Syed Salahuddin and the Syed Ali Geelani-led Hurriyat Conference initiated a probe into it.
Prof Bhat told Kashmir Reader, “The MC doesn’t want its members to go beyond prescribed political behaviour.”
The punishment to Haq comes at a time when he said that those who attended the Dubai conference “did not represent Hurriyat Conference”. However, PaK-based convener of the Hurriyat (M), Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, was among the participants in the conference.
Prof Bhat said that his party has called a meeting of its executive members after Eid-ul-Azha, in which “the fate of Manzoor-ul-Haq Bhat will be decided”.
“Until then,” Prof Bhat said, “Haq cannot issue any statement on behalf of the party.”
