PAMPORE: Residents of Umar Farooq Colony in Frestabal Pampore are alleging that the ‘unwanted repairs’ by Roads and Building Department on half a kilometer road stretch has become a nuisance for them.
They said that the road was fine except for a few potholes, but the R&B department laid gravels and dust for repairs, which has turned it into a nuisance.
“The road was fine prior to repairs, but after the repairing without blacktopping all dust emanating from the road enters the houses,” said Zahoor Ahmad , a resident of the colony.
Residents have appealed the R&B to go for macadamisation of the stretch at the earliest or they would be “forced to protest against the nuisance they have created in the colony”.
Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir Division told Kashmir Reader that the metalling of the road has been done and the blacktopping would take place only after the “metalling sets fully”.
“We always go for metalling ahead of macdamisation and usually macdamisation follows a year later,” he said.
He, however, added that he would look into the matter and try his best for early completion of the stretch.
