Sopore: A team headed by Additional District Commissioner Sopore, Khursheed Ahmad Shah along with Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Food Safety, Maternal and Child Health departments of conducted a surprise inspection of various shops in the main town Sopore on Monday. During the inspection, an amount of Rs. 700 was realized as fine from erring traders for violation of various laws.
About 5 kgs of rotten vegetables, and polythene bags were also seized and destroyed on the spot, whereas, various footpaths were freed from encroachments during the market checking.
Meanwhile, shopkeepers and vendors were warned against encroachment. The transporters including auto drivers were asked to park their vehicles only at parking places. Locals appreciated the act and hoped that the drive would continue in future as well.
