Kulsoom in London, Maryam launches campaign for ‘might be PM’ mother

Lahore: Maryam Nawaz has officially kicked off the election campaign of her mother and former first lady Kulsoom Nawaz on Saturday.

Kusoom is currently undergoing cancer treatment in London. She filed nomination from NA-120 Lahore constituency for by-elections after it fell vacant when Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was disqualified from his position as Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Maryam said she would be virtually staying in the Lahore constituency of NA-120 to ensure victory for the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the by-election.

The election will take place on Sept 17, Islamabad based The Dawn newspaper reported.

The former premier’s daughter reached the Punjab chief minister’s secretariat in Model Town, where she held a meeting with her party’s workers and representatives of the NA-120 constituency, at the head of a car rally from her Raiwind residence.

Reports said that if Kulsoom emerges as winner, she might replace Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as PM.
