Shopian: Callous attitude of authorities has put the mini-secretariat building in Shopian on the edge of collapse – the multi-crore asset has water leaks at several places in its walls.
An official told Kashmir Reader that water leaks from drinking water and sewerage pipes has begun to damage walls in this secretariat.
Worse, the paramilitary forces deployed during 2016 uprising to guard the building did not dispose garbage properly or maintain cleanliness in and around the premises. Officials said that the forces threw garbage in the open which has resulted in a foul smell.
The mini-secretariat is considered the nerve centre of administration in this south Kashmir district. In 2016 uprising, protesters tried to torch the building after government forces injured dozens with pellets and bullets at a public gathering in Pinjora village.
