SHOPIAN: Frequent power breakdowns in the last week have annoyed the residents of Shopian town and surrounding villages.
Residents complained the town has had no power from the past 48 hours.
Aijaz Ahmad Lone, a resident of the town said no officials were taking stock of the unscheduled power breakdowns for the past week.
Power breakdowns were also witnessed in villages like Trenz, Molu, Pehlipora, Imamsahib and other adjacent villages.
“Authorities were never serious about the sufferings of people at the hands of government and power breakdowns were affecting the normal life,” Shakir Mohidun, a resident of Trenz said.
Executive Engineer Power Development Department Shopian, Irshad Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that there were some issues in 99000 KVA power lines.
“Our department is working on that. The fault of transmission lines is not in Shopian, it is in Bemina due to which we are giving power supply in rotations,” he said.
He added that it will take two more days to restore the regular services.
