SRINAGAR: Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) on Friday expressed grief over the demise of Gulam Fatima, “who was an Islamic preacher, pious Muslimah and had a prolonged association with the Jamat-e-Islami’s women wing”.
The party also expressed anguish over killing of youth in Handwara, Shabir Ahmad Mir, by government forces in a “fake encounter”.
“Mohtarma Gulam Fatima sahiba, who was also known as mummy in the close circles, passed away on Thursday evening. She was a pious Muslim lady who has done great service to Kashmiri nation by spreading the message of Islam among the women,” DeM general secretary, Nahida Nasreen, said in a statement.
She said Fatima continuously and tirelessly spread the message and teachings of Islam. “Fatima Sahiba also had a long association with the Kashmir movement and has contributed a lot in this regard,” she said.
Paying glowing tributes to Gulam Fatima, Nasreen said, “Words are not enough to pay tributes to such a great and legendry personality. May Allah SWT accept her deeds and grant her special place in Janat-ul-Firdous.”
Nasreen said the deceased shared a close bonding with DeM chairperson Syeda Aasiya Andrabi.
