SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Wednesday strongly condemned the killing of Handwara youth, Shahid Bashir by forces. In a statement, Geelani said, “despite rhetoric about their concern for youth community, New Delhi and their henchmen in state are carrying systematic genocide under well thought out plan”.
Geelani ridiculed authorities for their tall claims of providing ‘’pen and computers to students’’ and said that it is just a political gimmick and added that same authorities declared killing of class 12 student Shahid Bashir as ‘’marvelous achievement’’ for their forces.
Geelani while referring to thrashing incident in Degree college Anantnag and search operations in Sub-Jail Baramulla, said that, on mere pretext youth are subjected to humiliation, inhuman assault and beaten to pulp.
He added that New Delhi is engaging their coercive and arbitrary measures to cow down peoples spirits, thus aiming at to create graveyard like silence in the state.
“We will never budge from our stand,” he said while hailing the resolve and resilience of people. He added that no power on earth can deter people from pursuing their cherished mission for right to self determination.
The amalgam condemned assault on senior Hurriyat leader Shabir Ahmad Shah in Patiala police lockup and appealed human rights organisations to take cognizance of the issue.
