Shopian: The co-owner of a cable network in Shopian, Hilal Ahmad Malik, was shot at by unidentified gunmen near Shopian hospital on Sunday. Reports reaching Kashmir Reader late in the day said that he had succumbed to his bullet injuries in hospital.
Medical Superintendent of Shopian district hospital, Dr Nazir Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that “A bullet-hit injured person was brought to hospital who had two bullet wounds, one on chest and another on the foot. After initial treatment we referred him to SMHS Srinagar under a critical condition,” he said.
Eyewitnesses said that Hilal was out on routine work when some unidentified men shot him with bullets.
Locals from the Malik Mohalla, where Malik lived, told Kashmir Reader that he was not affiliated to any political party or resistance group. They said that Malik had “good relations” with the police.
SSP Shopian, SA Dinkar, was not available for his comments.
