SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Friday the senior resistance activist Shakil Ahmad Bhat is being “victimised” for his resilience and steadiness.
In a statement, JKLF zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal condemned the “police atrocities” on peaceful political activists and leaders languishing in various jails.
Terming the prolonged incarceration of Shakil Ahmad Bhat as “worst victimisation” of a peaceful political activist, Kalwal said Shakil was arrested by Maharaj Gunj police before Eid ul Fitr. “He was ruthlessly beaten by police and his arm was also broken. From last two months, he is languishing at central jail Srinagar with his broken arm and no medical facility or treatment is being provided to him which is endangering his life,” he said.
Kalwal said the “ill treatment” meted out to a political activist is highly condemnable. He appealed ICRC to take note of these “atrocities” being committed on political workers languishing in jails and police stations in Kashmir.
JKLF leader also condemned the “ongoing harassment” of people living in Sonawari especially Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. He alleged people of Hajin are being harassed by government forces and forced to migrate from their home.
