DeM, DFP condemn US for designating Hizb as ‘terrorist’ group

Srinagar: Stating that both India and America are known for their anti-Muslim stand and policies, Dukhtaran-e-Millat on Thursday urged the Muslims across the world to condemn and denounce the US state department’s order designating Hizbul Mujahideen as a “foreign terrorist organization”.
“How ironic is it that an oppressor (India) which is continuing it brutality and oppression in Kashmir for the past 70 years isn’t designated as a terrorist state but the people who raise their voices against the repression and continuous oppression are labelled as terrorists,” DeM general secretary, Nahida Nasreen, said in a statement.
US designation of Hizb as a “terrorist” group was also condemned by Democratic Freedom Party, which termed the decision “biased” and “ridiculous”. In a statement on Thursday, DFP said that the “organisation is fighting at local level against Indian occupation of Jammu Kashmir” and that “US made this decision to secure its business interests with India”.
“The US decision violates the UN ruling that guarantees the right to self determination to those states fighting against foreign occupations. The Hizb ul Mujahideen is fighting at local level for the rights of oppressed and subjugated Kashmiris,” he said.
In its statement, DeM said that India and US had an anti-Muslim agenda as both countries had killed millions of Muslims. “Yet they have the audacity to label Kashmiris, who are fighting for their freedom from an illegal occupation, as terrorists and pro-Kashmir groups as terrorist groups,” she added.
“In such a scenario,” Nasreen said in the statement, “it becomes imperative not only for the people of Kashmir but for the Muslims across the world to strongly condemn and reject this recent statement by US State department regarding the Hizbul Mujahideen-an indigenous group of Kashmiris fighting the illegal Indian occupation on the armed front.”
