Srinagar: A brief shootout between government forces and militants broke out on Wednesday in south Kashmir’s Banderpora area in Pulwama district in which Lashkar Commander Ayub Lelhari was killed, sources said.
“He (Ayub Lelhari) was one of the most wanted militants. It’s a great success for the forces,” police sources said.
Local sources said that Ayub was travelling in a Tata Sumo vehicle when he was intercepted at Banderpora. They said that Ayub was killed in a brief shootout.
