Kashmir shuts on India’s Independence Day

Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in the Kashmir valley Tuesday on August 15, sources said.
The shutdown call was given by the joint resistance leadership comprised of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik.
“The purpose is to convey a message to the global community that India has expropriated Kashmiris’ inalienable right to self-determination through use of force,” the leaders had said in their joint call.
All shops and business establishments are closed while as the traffic is off the roads.
Reports from nook and corner of the valley said that there is civil curfew like situation across Kashmir.
