Budgam: Amid heavy rains, several rounds of funeral prayers attended by thousands of mourners were held for the slain operational commander of Hizb-Ul-Mujahideen Mohammad Yasin itoo alias Ghaznavi at his native village Nagam Chadoora in central Kashmir Monday morning.
Amid restrictions, thousands of people from the nearby areas visited the village and attended the funeral prayers of the slain militant commander.
Witnesses said that people raised pro-freedom and pro-militant slogans and also chanted anti-India and anti government slogans.
Yasin was the longest surviving militant. He was believed to be behind the long uprising of 2016 that followed by the killing of Burhan wani.
Itoo was killed alongwith his two associates, Irfan ul Haq from Maldair village of Shopian and Umar Majeed from Katpora Kulgam in a gunbattle at Awneera village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Two army soldiers were also killed in the gunbattle while as two civilians were killed in clashes which erupted during and after the gunfight in different areas of south Kashmir.
