SRINAGAR: Full dress rehearsals were held in all the districts and Tehsil headquarters of the Kashmir Valley in connection with the forthcoming August 15 functions.
Similar events were organized across Jammu division, a statement issued by the information department in Srinagar said.
At Srinagar, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan unfurled the tricolor, inspected the parade in an open jeep and took the salute at the march-past at Bakshi Stadium.
The march-past was presented by the contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, BSF, Women Police, State Disaster Response Force, Fire and Emergency Services besides contingents of Forest Protection Force and students from different schools also took part in the event.
Department of Information and J&K Cultural Academy presented colourful cultural programmes besides Dare Devil and Martial Art stunts were also performed by different teams.
On the occasion, DGP, S. P. Vaid, Additional Director Generals of Police, Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Muneer Ahmed Khan, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone and other senior Divisional civil, Police officers were present.
At Anantnag, a full dress rehearsal was held at Government Degree College Anantnag (Boys). Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Abid Rasheed Shah took salute on the march past presented by contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, NCC and Children of various schools.
At Budgam, the event was held at Sports Stadium, Budgam where Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Mohammad Haroon Malik, unfurled the flag and took the salute at the march past presented by JKP, JKAP, CRPF, NCC, Home-guard, Fire and Emergency Services.
At Kupwara, a full dress rehearsal was held at District Police Lines, Kupwara. Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir took salute on the march past. A similar function was also held at DPL Handwara and Dak Bunglow Tangdar.
At Pulwama, full dress rehearsal was held at District Police Lines Pulwama where Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar took the salute at the march past.
In Kulgam, Deputy Commissioner Talat Parvez unfurled the flag and took the salute, while in Bandipora, a full dress rehearsal was held at Sher-i -Kashmir sports stadium, Bandipora.
At Ganderbal, a full dress rehearsal was held at Madri Meharban Stadium, Ganderbal where Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Piyush Singla, unfurled the tricolor and took the salute at the march past.
At Baramulla, a colourful full dress rehearsal was conducted at District Police Lines Baramulla. Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Naqash unfurled the flag.
At Kargil, a colourful full dress rehearsal was conducted at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium. Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Haji Gulzar Hussain, took the salute at the march past presented by JKP, JKAP, CRPF, Fire and Emergency Services and NCC.
Across Jammu division, similar functions were held in all districts. The events witnessed large participation of school children, civil society members, contingents of belt force personnel, senior civil and police functionaries.
In Jammu, a full dress rehearsal was held in Mini-Stadium Parade where Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Mandeep K. Bhandhari, took salute at the contingents of District Police, CRPF, JKAP, NCC, Forest Protection Force and students drawn from various schools.
A scintillating cultural bonanza depicting culture was also presented by the school Children, said the information department in its statement.
