Srinagar: GD Goenka School Srinagar is organizing a four day adventure camp at Sonamarg from 17th August under the aegis of Adventure Tour Operators Association of Kashmir (ATOAK), a statement issued by ATOAK aid.
Around150 students of the school are taking part in the camp. It is first-ever camp of its kind of Goenka Srinagar.
According to the statement, “The participants would be introduced to River Rafting, trekking, ice and rock crafting, abseiling, river crossing, Tyrolean Travers, paragliding and would also be given lectures on survival in the mountains, rescue work, navigation, adventure tourism, preservation of wildlife, disaster management and many other allied subjects.”
“The main aim for going through with the camp is to encourage a spirit of adventure sports and risk taking among the students,” it added.
General secretary ATOAK informed that the GD Goenka has chain of schools all over the country and our efforts are afoot to attract its students to Kashmir who are otherwise conducting their adventure programs in other Himalayan states. Sports Tourism need to be recognized as a tourism sector in J&K, he further he said.
