Civilian injured in Dalgate grenade attack succumbs at SKIMS

Srinagar: The civilian who was injured in the suspected militant in Srinagar on Saturday evening died this morning at SKIMS, police said.

A police official told the Kashmir Reader that one Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, r/o Hawal, Srinagar who was injured during an “explosion” yesterday near Budyari Chowk, Dalgate and was admitted at SMHS Hospital, Srinagar died Sunday morning.

“He was referred to SKIMS Soura during wee hours for further treatment where he succumbed,” he added.
Kashmir police chief Munir Ahmad Khan told had Kashmir Reader on late Saturday evening that militants hurled a grenade at a police naka at Dalgate.

“The militants hurled the grenade when they saw the naka (of police),” Khan had said. “If the police naka was not there, the militants would have gone inside (the market).”

Reports said that the funeral prayers of slain Imtiyaz were held around 10:30 am today.
