Bahraini professor discusses Arabic literature at IUST

Srinagar: An eminent academician Prof Ali Abdul Nabi Farhan Head, Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Ahlia University, Kingdom of Bahrain delivered an invited lecture on “The Significance of Classical Arabic Literature in the Contemporary Arab World” at Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST) Awantipora on Wednesday.
The lecture was organized by the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, IUST.
Prof Farhan encompassed the significance of classical Arabic literature in historical perspective from pagan period to modern period. He discussed various aspects of narrations and their techniques in classical Arabic literature. He emphasized the role of Maqaamat and eminent odds of pre- Islamic period in modern times. The foundation of modern fiction of contemporary Arab world was the handiwork of luminaries of Abasid period like Bedihuz- Zaman Al- Hamdani and Hariri, he said. The lecture was followed by a question session, wherein the various queries raised by the participants were addressed.
