Baramulla: Rabid dogs have created terror in Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district for last several weeks. Reports said that over one dozen people including schoolchildren, women and old age citizens were injured by the rabid dogs in Wanigam area of Pattan for the past several weeks. The injured persons were treated in different hospitals even as nine injured people were shifted to SDH Pattan for treatment.
The people of the area complained that population of stray dogs has increased manifold for the past several months. They suspected that the dogs are being transported from other areas and thrown in these villages during night hours.
Mohammad Yawar Wani, a local resident said that the proliferation of dogs has created havoc in the area and parents are scared to send their children out of their homes. “We met with the officials of municipal committee Pattan but they expressed inability to check the dog menace,” he said.
