Kupwara: A top army commander in north Kashmir said that five infiltrators killed along the Line of Control (LoC) on Monday were spotted in right earnest and killed in a matter of three hours. Speaking to media persons, commander of 53 Brigade, RK Surash said the army killed at least 5 non-local militants during the night straddling between 6 and 7 August. “Our troops found some suspicious movement across the LoC. The troops launched an operation against the infiltrators. However, they hid in dense forests and opened fire. During the exchange of gunfire, we killed all the five intruders in a three hour long operation and recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition including 5 rifles, grenades, packed food items, medicine of Pakistani marking.
“We neutralised these militants in three hours and no one was injured from our side,” he said and added that militants had planned to engage the forces for long operation as war-like stores were found in their possession.
