SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (M) has strongly condemned the firing by government forces upon protestors in Gulab Bagh, Tral in which a 16-year-old student Mohammad Younus Sheikh was killed and several others critically injured and termed it “aggressive”.
A spokesperson of the conglomerate in a statement paid rich tributes to slain youth and three militants killed in an encounter at Gulab Bagh, Tral.
He said the use of military might is the only way government chooses to deal with the sentiment and political aspirations of people of Kashmir. “Our youth have been pushed to the wall to resist occupation and are getting martyred in their quest for justice and resolution of the Kashmir dispute,” he said.
The spokesperson said people of Kashmir are being pressurised and squeezed from all sides. “While young Kashmiri boys are killed almost each day, scores of them are arbitrarily arrested and put in jails where they languish for months and years. Many are sent to jails outside valley and face severe weather conditions.”
The Hurriyat spokesperson said “targetting and trying to implicate even an honest and decent police officer Faheem Ali, who was simply performing his duty assigned to him by his department, shows the desperation of the government to defame (the) leadership and the level they can go to”.
“Such tactics to persecute leadership and defame them through falsehood and harass those associated with them will not yield anything. The people’s struggle for their birthright for which every Kashmiri is striving and suffering will continue till the resolution of the issue,” he said.
