Says Delhi hell-bent to change state’s demography

SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani on Wednesday asked the pro-India politicians to join pro-freedom ranks and play their role in resolving the long-pending dispute of Kashmir.
“Their (pro-India politicians’) rhetoric about prevailing situation is just a political gimmick. They are responsible for tampering and fiddling with Article 370,” Geelani said in a statement.
He strongly criticised RSS and its allies for their “unholy nexus”, saying the move to abrogate this Article is a “pre-planned game” and reports of leaving coalition is just a “mockery and political gimmick”.
Geelani said authorities in New Delhi are hell-bent to tamper with the Muslim majority character of Jammu and Kashmir. He cautioned people against the “nefarious designs” of Delhi and its “henchmen” in JK.
He said people in JK won’t allow anyone to alter or interfere with the integrity and special status of the state and will safeguard it at all costs.
“It is conspiracy to alter (the) demography and Muslim majority status of Jammu Kashmir. If such move is undertaken, the people from outside states will purchase land in JK and a situation like that of Palestine will arise,” he said.
Geelani said from day one, the BJP regime is working to sabotage the referendum process in Jammu Kashmir and is hatching conspiracies to achieve the desired results to influence the process of referendum.
The Hurriyat chairman said authorities are creating Palestine-like situation in state.
Geelani appealed to writers, scholars and respected members of society to aware masses about the consequences of proposed repealing of the state subject law and make every possible effort to reach out to international community about the prevailing “horrifying situation” and disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.
