HC seeks govt response on parks and gardens

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has asked Commissioner Secretary Tourism, Secretary Housing and Urban department, VC-SDA, Commissioner SMC and Director Floriculture to file their response to a public interest litigation seeking details on various parks and gardens in Kashmir.
The PIL ‘The court on its own motion’ Vs state floriculture department is seeking information on developmental status of parks and gardens developed by various departments, besides information on how many parks have been developed for children and public, and the maintenance cost.
The PIL was heard by Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey.
The court observed that to save environment in long run, parks and gardens are the best source which act as recreation as well as learning grounds for children and general public.
