Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in some parts of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district Monday to mourn the killing of a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant in a gunfight at Samboora village of Pampore, reports said.
Police said that the slain militant Umar was a Pakistan national.
All shops and business establishments and educational institutions are closed in Pulwama, Pampore and other areas of the district.
Reports of minor incidents of stone pelting have reached from Pulwama town. Local sources told Kashmir Reader that protesting youth pelted stones on government force’s vehicles in the town and forces fired some shots in air to disperse the protesters.
Authorities have also snapped internet services in some parts of Pulwama district.
