JAMMU: Governor N. N. Vohra and Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti have greeted people of the State on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
In his message of greetings, the Governor observed that Raksha Bandhan is a unique representation of India’s cultural ethos, symbolizing the special bonds between brothers and sisters. He said that this festival has a special significance for Jammu and Kashmir as the annual Amarnathji Yatra concludes on this day and devotees pay obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine on Shravan Purnima.
In her message, Mehbooba Mufti hoped that the occasion brings along an era of peace, prosperity, harmony and progress for the people of the State.
The Chief Minister said in Jammu & Kashmir Raksha Bandhan also marks the culmination of the annual Amarnath yatra which she said is a symbol of centuries’ old communal harmony and brotherhood. She hoped that this spirit of communal amity continues and further strengthens the bonds of amity among the people of the State.
