Bandipora: Three persons were injured when army soldiers opened fire at a group of protesting youths in Bandipora district on Saturday.
The protesting youth earlier hurled stones on army vehicles that were passing through Sadrekoot Bala locality in Sumbal area of Bandipora, locals said.
They said the army soldiers opened fire to disperse the protesters, resulting in injuries to three persons. The incident happened soon after the news of the death of a local militant, Aabid Hamid Mir, from a neighbouring village in Hajin, reached the area.
The injured have been identified as Hilal Ahmed Wani, Latief Ahmed Khan and Suhail Ahmed Bhat, all residents of Sadrekoot Bala.
