Srinagar: A “rarest of rare” surgical case involving “testis inside hernial sac” was operated upon at Sub District Hospital, Pattan.
Normally a testis with cord lies posterolateral to hernial sac, but location of testis with cord itself inside a hernial sac is extremely rare.
The case was successfully operated at SDH Pattan by the General Surgery unit of the hospital, a statement issued by Health directorate said. The operating team included Dr Imtiaz Wani (Surgeon),Dr Mohd Amin(Consultant Anaesthesia), Younis, Muddasir, Tanveer, Showket , Gulzar and G Parray (Theatre Staff).
Very few such cases have been reported in literature across the world till date, the statement said, adding that operating such a unique case has brought much accolades to the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK).
The 60-year-old patient had reported with scrotal swelling and during exploration testis along with spermatic cord was found inside hernial sac in the scrotum.
Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr Saleem ur Rehman has congratulated CMO Baramulla Dr Bashir Chalkoo, BMO Pattan Dr Manzoor Hakim and the team for achieving the feat.
