Srinagar: Two Hizb militants who were killed in an army ambush in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district early Thursday were laid to rest after thousands attend their funeral prayers.
Aaqib Itoo and Suhail Ahmad were killed in Gopalpora village of Kulgam after army opened fire during an ambush.
Local sources said that funeral prayers of Itoo were attended by thousands of people at his ancestral village Gopalpora.
Earlier people from adjoining areas marched to Goplapora raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
A large number of people also participated in the funeral prayers of Suhail at his ancestral village Tantraypora, Yaripora before he was laid to rest.
Sources said that strict restrictions have been put in place in most areas of the Kulgam district by deploying extra para-military troopers to foil protests.
