Srinagar: The government has ordered closure of schools and colleges in several districts of Kashmir on Thursday in view of the prevailing situation of unrest. All educational institutions in the Valley were shut on Wednesdayafter students took out protest marches the previous day.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone, said that classes will remain suspended in Amar Singh College, SP College, Gandhi College, Islamia College, SP Higher Secondary School (HSS) and MP HSS on Thursday.
“The decision has been taken to prevent law and order problems,” he said.
DC Pulwama, Gh Mohammad Dar, said that two colleges and all higher secondary schools will remain closed for the second consecutive day on Thursday.
“Degree colleges and all higher secondary schools will remain shut tomorrow,” DC Anantnag, Syed Abid Rashid, said.
Mohammad Aijad, DC Shopian, also said that all educational institutions will be closed in the district on Thursday.
However, DC Kulgam, Talat Parvez, said that “any decision regarding educational institutions will be taken in view of the situation in the district.”
The district administration of Kupwara and Baramulla has directed all educational institutions, including degree colleges, to remain shut on Thursday.
