PAMPORE: Flashfloods caused by cloudburst entered scores of residential houses, commercial complexes and an army camp in Khunmoh and Balhama area of Srinagar outskirts Wednesday, causing damage to properties.
Tehsildar Panthachowk Abdul Rehman Dar told Kashmir Reader that flood waters entered 30 residential houses in Khanmoh and Balhama villages, SIDCO and Khyber factories and an army camp situated in the area.
The factory staffers said the water damaged raw material worth lakhs, finished good, machinery, boundary wall, power sub-station and Tubalar poles at SIDCO.
Many roads in the area were damaged including one which was blocked by a landslide, while paddy and vegetable fields were also damaged.
Officials of the district administration reached the spot immediately after the natural calamity hit the villages.
District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone accompanied by Additional DC Srinagar and Tehsildar visited the area and ordered constitution of joint teams of officers to prepare loss assessment reports.Dr Lone also visited Industrial Estate Khunmoh along with Director Industries and MD SIDCO.
