Srinagar: From last three months National Health Mission employees (NHM) are without salary.
Expressing its resentment, All J&K NHM Association has asked the state government for instant release of the pending salaries.
“From past three months, we have not received our salary. As we have no other source of income, our families particularly school going children have been suffering badly,” said president of NHM employees association Shaheen Nawaz.
Another employee Mushtaq Ahmad, a paramedic said the NHM employess are the backbone of health services. “It’s because of our efforts that the government is able to accomplish its agenda of development but our services have never been acknowledged by the higher authorities,” Mushtaq said.
Another employee Dr Zahoor said, “We are not able to deposit monthly installments of our loans which we have borrowed from banks and we have to pay compound interest for our loans. Because of this our guarantors are also suffering,” “
Ruksana Farooq, a contractual employee, said she was facing immense hardships and her family was also suffering.
“This is my only source of live hood. I am a widow. From last three months I have not received salary due to which my family suffers,” she said.
National Mission Director Dr Mohan Singh told Kashmir Reader the employees would receive their salaries within a week.
