Srinagar: Two charred bodies of militants have been recovered from the encounter site in Hakripora village of Pulwama district on Tuesday, sources said.
They said that possibly the militant bodies are being identified. “The bodies are badly charred so identity will take some time,” police sources said.
Earlier firing stopped and forces started search operation in the area. Two residential houses got damaged in the gunfight.
“One house was set on fire and another was shelled down by forces,” local sources said.
LeT commander Dujana along with his close aide Arif Lalehari were believed to be trapped in the area after which a cordon was laid followed by a gunfight.
Massive clashes erupted in the area soon after the gunfight started resulting in injuries to at least 15 persons.
The situation in the whole Pulwama district was tense amid spontaneous shutdown.
Railway authorities also suspended train services for the day.
