SAMBA/POONCH/DODA: A workshop on Goods and Services Tax, ‘The New Taxation System’ was organized for traders by Commercial Taxes Department Samba district’s Vijaypur on Saturday.
The Commercial taxes officials gave a brief overview highlighting key features of GST, registration, exemptions and other vital aspects. With the implementation of GST, operation and data related to goods and services shall be processed in a seamless manner, an official press note read.
In Saturday’s session, many Jewellers were also present who raised their issues and concerns with the officials. Besides, traders sought clarifications from officials on variety of issues like input tax credit, tax on pending stock items, mandatory registrations, branded and non branded items rates. ADDC Samba Vivek Sharma, Deputy commissioner Audit Deepika Sharma,SDM Vijaypur Ravinder Sharma, Sales Tax Officers Chander Parkash, Bhupinder Singh, Kusum, Rupinder and President Beopar Mandal Vijaypur Surinder Mahajan and members from various trade organisations were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, a workshop-cum-orientation programme on GST was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner Poonch, Tariq Ahamad Zargar.
The programme was organized by Commercial Taxes Department in collaboration with district administration Poonch.
During the programme, Assistant Commissioner Sales Tax, Jammu Pardeep Singh Chib, CTOs Pankaj Sasan and Rizwan Asghar presented detail information regarding the implementation of GST to DDOs, representatives of various trade associations, contractors, shopkeepers, etc.
DDC in his address said that district administration will provide best possible support to the commercial taxes department in organizing informative and awareness programmes on GST in rural and remote areas of the district.
Later an interactive session was held by Assistant Commissioner Commercial Taxes Department and his team on issues pertaining to registration and returns files.
In a similar session in Doda, Department of Commercial Taxes in collaboration with district administration held one-day awareness session on Goods and Services Tax (GST) to create awareness among various stakeholders.
The session was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Commercial taxes, Vigilance and Inspection Khalid Majeed who elaborated the benefits and procedures of GST.
CTO Circle Doda Gyas-ul-Haq gave detailed presentation on the registration of DDOS besides other matters related to registration, tax deduction, filling returns, submission of return, mode of TDS payment, issues of TDS certificate, penalty, interest, digital signatures, etc.
The registration of DDOs has started from 27th of July 2017 besides, for any queries and clarifications participants can login at www.gst.gov.in portal.
Later, CTO along with other staff of the deptt conducted shop to shop survey of unregistered dealers in general and textile dealers in particular in the whole town, the press note added.
