Custodian department sets up committee for revival of orchards

Srinagar: To make its assets profitable and revenue generating units, the Custodian Department has set up an expert committee to asses conditions of its orchards spread across the Kashmir division.
The Committee was constituted by the Govenrment vide order No. 935-GAD dated this month for suitable development and rejuvenation of evacuee orchards held its first meeting here at the office of the Custodian General JK under the chairmanship of Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, the Custodian General of the state.
The committee will visit all the orchards and will take into account soil suitability and other relevant parameters for growing different kinds of plants and fruits.
“It has been decided that the members of the committee shall visit all the evacuee orchards to take on the spot assessment of the condition of the orchards and plants standing there in Kashmir division before a detailed report of evacuee orchards is prepared for submission to the government,” the committee decided in the meeting.
The visits to orchards located in Baramulla, Bandipora, Budgam, Pulwama and Anantnag will begin from the first week of the August.
