Srinagar: The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) stands divided as it has failed to mention the names of two senior pro-freedom leaders Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Farooq Ahmad Dar (Bitta Karate) in its press release where it has called for a strike against the arrest of seven leaders by NIA in “hawala funding” cases.
The press statement issued by the JRL led by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik has only mentioned the names of five pro-freedom leaders who belong to Geelani and Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat Conferences.
The mentioned names are Altaf Ahmed Shah, Shahidul Islam, Ayaz Akbar, Mehrajuddin Kalwal and Peer Saifullah.
Terming their arrest as illegal and arbitrary, the JRL said the NIA has arrested them on fabricated charges.
The JRL said that absolutely no evidence was found against Altaf Ahmed Shah, Shahidul Islam, Ayaz Akbar, Mehrajuddin Kalwal and Peer Saifulla in connection with any so-called funding and they have been arrested as per the plan of the government.
The JRL has omitted the names of Khan and Karate as if allegations against them in these cases have been proved.
The JRL, which has called for a shutdown against the arrest of Hurriyat members, was also criticised by netizens for calling for shutdown against the arrest of Hurriyat leaders while failing to call any protest against the killing of a youth by the army at Beewah in Budgam last Friday.
The JRL in its statement said that a complete strike will be observed in the Valley on Tuesday (July 25) to protest and condemn the “revengeful arbitrary and illegal move.”
