Srinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday demanded that Kashmiri leaders Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq should also be investigated for alleged money laundering activities to create unrest in the Kashmir Valley.
BJP Member of Parliament (MP) and former Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh while demanding investigation against the two front runner pro-freedom leaders, reportedly said in New Delhi “the arrest of the separatist leaders will decrease unrest in the valley created and funded by Pakistan”.
Singh said this a day after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) formally arrested seven Hurriyat leaders on charges of money laundering for allegedly funding of terror-related activities and unrest.
“There have been many discussions regarding this topic, but there was no effect, and it is noted that the unrest in the valley increases after discussions with Pakistan. There is no point in conducting discussions. A follow up in this case is needed,” Singh reportedly said.
