Srinagar: “A minor altercation took place yesterday night between some Army personnel returning from Amarnath Yatra in civil dress and JKP personnel at Gund,” Army spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said in a statement referring thrashing of policemen and ransacking of police station in Ganderbal district last night.
“No major injuries were suffered in the incident and the matter has been resolved by personal intervention of senior officers,” Col Kalia said adding “Measures to prevent recurrence have been taken”.
Many policemen were injured after Army soldiers assaulted them and ransacked police station Gund in Ganderbal district.
The incident took place late last evening after policemen tried to stop soldiers in civvies who were returning from Amarnath yatra.
Police station Gund was attacked, ransacked and policemen were injured by army soldiers who belonged to 24 RR army camp Gund and Surfraw in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
