Srinagar: Intense clashes erupted in central Kashmir’s Beerwah soon after the funeral prayers of Tanveer Ahmad on Friday.
Tanveer Ahmad son of Mohammad Akbar, a 22 year old youth was killed in Army firing at Beerwah in Budgam district.
Local sources said that soon after Tanveer’s funeral prayers were offered and his body was being taken for burial, forces fired tear smoke shells on the mourners.
However police sources said that people pelted stones on forces who retaliated with tear smoke shelling.
Local sources said that intense clashes were going on in the town.
Earlier thousands of people attended Tanveer’s funeral prayers. Witnesses told Kashmir Reader that multiple funeral prayers were offered for Tanveer at his native place, Beerwah in central Kashmir.
