SRINAGAR: Welcoming the statement of UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, on Kashmir, the Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) on Sunday said there are existing UN resolutions for the implementation of the right to self-determination in the forum and that no other means can help in the peaceful resolution of the dispute.
“There is no other option than implementing UN resolutions for (the) peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute,” the DeM secretary general, Nahida Nasreen, said in a statement.
She said several resolutions were passed in UN General Assembly but India didn’t let those be implemented.
Nasreen said India and Pakistan do not need to find a new solution to Kashmir issue as “an acceptable and permanent solution” to it lies in the implementation of UN resolutions. She said UN should pressurise India to implement these resolutions in Jammu Kashmir.
“It is time to fulfill the promises committed to the people of Kashmir by late Indian PM Jawaharlal Nehru and UN charter and implement UN resolutions so that people get a chance to decide their future,” she said.
Nasreen also paid rich tributes to militants killed in Tral and said the best tribute to them is that we remain steadfast in our resolve to fight the “oppression” and stay united at political and social level and not get distracted.
