Army-civilian altercation in Bijbehara, civilian injured in firing

Srinagar: A civilian sustained injuries after Army resorted to firing in Bijbehara town of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday.
Local sources said that Army soldiers stopped and started thrashing a Scooty driver. On seeing the Scooty driver being beaten ruthlessly, locals tried to intervene however Army soldiers according to locals opened fire injuring a civilian.
However, Defence PRO Col RK Panday told Kashmir Reader that militants fired upon Army convoy near Bijbehara. “Terrorists fired upon Army convoy, no one Army casualty,” he said.
The civilian has been identified as Mohammad Abdullah Ganai, a resident of Hassanpora. Ganai has been shifted to Srinagar for advanced treatment.
