Local LeT militant arrested in Sumbal: Police

Sumbal: Police on Friday claimed that they arrested a local LeT militant from Markundal area of Sumbal town in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Police sources said that the arrest was made after acting on a specific information received by District Police Bandipora regarding movement of the militants in the Markundal Pushwari area.
Accordingly a joint ambush was laid in the orchards by police and 13 RR personnel during which a suspicious movement was noticed. The suspected was challenged to stop but he tried to run away however forces over powered and apprehended him. He was identified as Shabaz Rasool Mir S/O Ghulam Rasool Mir R/o Mir Mohalla Hajin, a locally trained militant of LeT, police said, police said.
A Chinese pistol, 4 rounds, 1 Hand grenade, 1 knife were recovered from his possession, police sources said.
Case FIR No.83/2017 has been registered at PS Sumbal in this regard.
