Srinagar: Authorities on Wednesday imposed restrictions in old Srinagar areas to prevent protests, sources said.
The restrictions have been imposed in view of the killing of a Hizb militant Sajid Ahmad Gilkar of Malaratta, Srinagar.
Gilkar along with two more militants, Aaqib Gul of Gooripora Hyderpora and Javaid Ahmad Shiekh of Beerwah were killed during a gunfight with government forces in central Kashmir’s Redbugh area of Budgam district.
Police sources told Kashmir Reader that extra forces have been deployed in the area to “maintain law and order”.
Meanwhile, Lal Chowk area of the city observed shutdown soon after news of the killing of Gilkar spread.
Spontaneous shutdown was also observed in other parts of the city.
