Forces resort to tear gas shelling on Sajid’s funeral procession

Srinagar: Government forces on Wednesday resorted to tear smoke shelling on the funeral procession of Hizb militant Sajid Ahmad Gilkar in Nowhatta area of old city, witnesses said. They said that at least two mourners were injured in force’s action.
Sajid Ahmad Gilkar of Malaratta along with Aaqib Gul of Gooripora Hyderpora and Javaid Ahmad Shiekh of Beerwah were killed during a gunfight in central Kashmir’s Redbugh area of Budgam district.
Earlier authorities handed over the body of Gilkar to his family members for last rites.
Witnesses said that as the body was being taken to Jamia masjid for funeral prayers forces resorted to tear smoke shelling on much charged mourners who raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
Witnesses said that hundreds of people had to disperse through narrow lanes and by-lanes to save themselves from force’s wrath.
