BARAMULLA: Repairs of a vital road are being carried out in Andergam village of north Kashmir’s Pattan area with sub-standard material irking local residents.
The locals said the executing agency is mixing liters of asphalt with crushed stones (bajri) and pass it off as macadamization of the road.
“After our concerted efforts, the authorities permitted mecadamisation of this busy road but the effort is being wasted as no standard procedure is being followed to build the road,” Nazir Ahmad, a local said.
Executive engineer roads and buildings division Sopore, Mohammad Saleem Khan rubbished the allegations. “We were filling some patches with khak-bajri, which will be followed by macadamisation of these patches,” he said.
“Some officials of the department visited the spot and found nothing wrong,” Khan said adding he would personally visit the area to find out facts,” Khan said.
