SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani has expressed “deep grief” over the killing of a woman, Tahira Begum, and a youth, Shadab Ahmed, during Dialgam encounter by government forces saying authorities have declared a war against innocent and unarmed civilians.
Geelani in a statement while slamming government forces said they “least care about precious lives and dignity of womenfolk”.
He demanded impartial probe and exemplary action against culprits.
The Hurriyat (G) chairman said youth are illustrating their resentment wherever peaceful political activities are denied. He said people in Kashmir are in dire need of peace and Indian authorities have great role to play and need to solve this long-vexed problem.
Paying glorious tributes to slain “brave hearts”, Geelani said, “Malicious and haughty approach of Indian authorities is the root cause of all misfortune and uncertainty in (the) state.”
He said Kashmir is a human and political issue however authorities are relying on military solution.
Meanwhile, a Hurriyat delegation visited Dialgam and participated in the funeral prayers of slain youth.
Another delegation visited SKIMS hospital and enquired about the well being of those injured during encounter.
