BARAMULLA: A team lead by Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Chaudary Jamsheed, recovered a fine of Rs 60,000 from traffic offenders in the district, besides seizing many tractors for lack of valid documents.
Chaudary said the aim of the drive was to make driving safe for both drivers and pedestrians.
“It is not only about penalising the private vehicles for violations; our concern is also that passengers travelling in public transport don’t face any unnecessary trouble,” he said adding that they were ensuring that the
seating arrangements in public transport was as per rules.
He also said that committee on road safety appointed by the supreme court has recommended suspension of driving license for a minimum period of three months under section 19 of MVF of 1988 for offences like over speeding, over loading, using phones while driving or riding, carrying passengers in goods carriage and jumping traffic signals.
