Srinagar: People across Kashmir are observing a complete shutdown on Sunday to protest against the killing of two civilians at the hands of forces at Dialgam on Saturday. Two militants were also killed in a gunfight in south Kashmir yesterday.
As per reports most of the businesses establishments remained closed while the public transport remained off the roads however private transport plyed almost normally and some shops also remained open many interior parts.
However, reports from north Kashmir said that partial shutdown was observed in Baramulla, Pattan,Sangrama, Rafiabad and other areas. The traffic also ply normally in the said areas.
The shutdown call was given by joint resistance leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.
The authorities have imposed curfew-like restrictions in areas falling under the jurisdiction of Nowhatta, Maharaj Gunj, Rainawari, Khanyar, Safakadal, Maisuma and Kralkhud police stations in Srinagar.
