Srinagar: Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Bashir Lashkari and another unidentified militant were killed in an encounter in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.
The gunfight took place at Brenti-Batpora in Dialgam area of the district. Officials said that the gunfight was over.
Two civilians were also killed in the area. As per police a lady was killed after caught in cross fire. Another youth Shadab was killed after forces opened fire on protesters injuring Shadab and many others. Shadab later on succumbed to his injuries.
The Jammu and Kashmir police had announced a bounty of Rs 10 lakh for Bashir Lashkari. According to police he was involved in an attack which led to the death of six policemen on June 17.
Lashkari, a resident of Sofshali Kokernag, had joined militant ranks in October 2015. Categorised as an A++ militant, Lashkari was the outfit’s commander in Anantnag district.
