Srinagar: United Jihad Council, a grouping of Kashmir militant outfits, on Thursday appealed people to hold protests after Friday prayers in the Valley against US designation of Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin as a global terrorist.
In a statement issued to KNS, UJC spokesman Syed Sadaqat Hussain quoted the outfit’s general secretary, Sheikh Jameel-ur-Rehman as saying, “Designating Syed Salahuddin as a global terrorist is against the international regulations and the charter of United Nations.” He appealed Kashmiris “to protest after Friday prayers against the Trump-led regime’s decision and against the arrests of Hurriyat leaders to convey a message that the struggle will continue till any logical conclusion.”
He said, “Such statements are tantamount to rubbing salt on the wounds of Kashmiris and to continue to the illegal occupation of India in Kashmir.”
“Kashmiris reject such statements and the world community should also reject it and play their role in resolving the Kashmir issue,” he said while addressing a special meeting of the UJC.
He also expressed concern over the arrest of pro-freedom leaders and said, “such tactics won’t suppress the determination of people.”
